Falmouth Classic Weekend

June 13 - June 16

Falmouth Classic Weekend 13th arrival for 14th – 16th June 2023

As we all need to arrange our diaries for next year and we need to find and book our own accommodation for this event I though we should give the go ahead as there seemed to be enough support.
It would be very useful to know who is definitely planning on coming and who is thinking about it – could you email me. Also if you would like to just crew let me know.
Once we know who is coming we might be able between us to coordinate some accommodation bookings in the larger holiday homes.
I think you will need to individually fill in the Falmouth Classic Association application form when it is available. I will let send the link to the form when I get it.
Here is some initial information:

THE EVENT
I contacted Don Garmen of the Falmouth Classic Association and these are the answers he gave to my questions:

Is there an application form. Yes this will be available in late September/ October.
Would the Salcombe Yawls have their own start? Yes if there were four or more entrants.
Where would the race course be? In the Carrick Roads
How many races would there be? Three – two on Friday and one on Saturday plus the Parade of Sail and Power on Sunday AM
Are there any social event we could join in? Haven Reception on Thursday evening, Welcome Reception on Friday evening – both free to participants and a supper of Saturday – needs to be booked and paid for. Prize givings – Saturday for day prizes and Sunday following small boat parade at 15.00 for overall and parade prizes.
Shanty festival runs from Friday – Sunday all performances free except concert

ACCOMODATION AND YAWL STORAGE
We are arranging to base our Yawls at WindSports in Mylor Churchtown where Tom Phipps and Clari will look after us and provide launch and recovery at the beginning and end of each day. Our trailers will be kept in their field.
We would need to take our Yawls to Windsports on the 13th June.

The Windsports rates are as follows:

Car parking: £5 daily rate
Boat storage: £5 daily rate
Trailer Storage: £5 daily rate
Haul outs / Launches with the Tractor – £5 launch or retrieval per boat if staggered. If grouped together, meaning everyone came into the beach at the same time and are pulled up the slipway, one after the next, we would just charge this at our standard labour rate, which is £54 an hour, with a minimum charge of £27 (half an hour.)
Campervan pitch: £35 per night
Standard Tent pitch: £28 per night
Large Tent pitch: £35 per night

Tent bookings include 1 car parking space per pitch. Additional car parking spaces can be purchases when checking out online for a 20% discounted rate of £4. Or can be purchased on the day for £5.
Campervan bookings do not include a car parking space. Each booking includes two guests & electric hook-up as part of the rate.
