Hi all Yawlies,  

The Baltic Exchange raises a lot of money to fund our Salcombe Lifeboat.
They do this in part with lots of activities, a sailing weekend in Salcombe is one of them.

They have asked if we will host a sailing event for them, and I have set out the itinerary below.

I think we now have 9/10 Yawls participating. 
The plan is the Yawl owners will helm unless they feel confident to allow a Baltic member to helm. Crew and Yawls will be allocated at the briefing on Friday.
Depending on numbers we might swap crews with each race.

Friday the 6th October 

Muster at SYC 12 pm for briefing. Sandwiches will be available.

Two races back to back in the afternoon first race starts at 2pm. From the Watch House Lifeboat flag. HW 11.10
I suggest all Yawls are brought up and moored outside the SYC ready to go. MiKe Knowles has offered his moorings and i’m sure we can use the ones outside the YC as normal.

Friday evening the Baltic and Yawl owners plus one will be having Pizza at the YC. 

Saturday 7th October

Two races, one in the morning and one in the afternoon.

Race one, Fun race start at 10.30am with a running La Mans start from Fisherman’s (HW 12.00.)
The Yawls will be lined up on the beach, the crews will run to their Yawls which will be rigged ready to go.   The course will be made available at the time.

Lunch on Smalls.  Pasties and drinks will be brought over.  Yawls will need to moor up outside the YC. 
Transport to Smalls and return will be provided via the Support Vessels.  

Race Two.
Will be a special start, put on after club racing starts 2.20. Lifeboat flag. 

Saturday evening
The Baltic will host a dinner at The Winking Prawn with fun, prize giving and a raffle, for all Yawl owners and support crews plus one, (i.e. your partner)
7.0 for 7.30pm.  

Sunday 8th October 
In the morning, yet to be confirmed, a trip on The Baltic Exchange Lifeboat.

Martin Payne has offered to act as our OOD.  

Support boat crews using SYC rib on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning Thanks to Andrew Reed, Christen Sworder  and Andrew Squire. 
This is to run crews out to Yawls as well as being a support through the race.

Saturday afternoon normal SYC support will be on hand.

If any Yawl Owners have a VHF, that could be handy to keep in touch. Channel will be allocated at the time. Probably P4 Friday and Saturday morning.

‘Explosures’ will be out photographing our sailing event, and the photo’s can be viewed, ordered and purchased via their website after the event.
